A Gathering Hosted by Justice for Desmond Phillips
W 5TH St, Chico, California 95928
Desmond Phillips had a heart for the homeless. When he moved to Chico, he asked his father, David, to join him on Sunday's after chuch to go to the Downtown Plaza and feed the homeless. It was Desmond's calling, and his father honors that tradition still, 6 months after his death.
We are commemorating the 6 month anniversary of Desmond's death at the hands of Chico PD by having a community gathering of fellowship and support. Friends, family and community members are invited to come to the Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2017 to remember Desmond, to honor his calling for feeding the homeless of Chico, and to learn more about alternative methods for communities to deal with mental health crises.
There will be music, speeches, snacks, and memories as we gather together to ensure that not one more person is lost to our community.
Desmond Phillips, 25, was shot and killed by Chico PD on March 17, 2017 when the responded to a 911 Mental Health Crisis call. You can learn more on our Facebook page Justice for Desmond Phillips.
