Equality California would like to invite you and your organization to join us for LGBT Advocacy Day on May 16 at the Capitol in Sacramento. The rights of LGBT Californians and other minorities are under attack, and we must make our voices heard!
We are holding LGBT Advocacy Day in conjunction with a number of progressive organizations including: ACLU, APLA Health, GSA Network, LA LGBT Center, Lambda Legal, Project Inform, NCLR, SF AIDS Foundation, and the Transgender Law Center to bring together a broad coalition of LGBT leaders, community members, and activists to make our voices heard at the Capitol!
When: Tuesday, May 16, 2017
Time: 9:00am - 5:00pm
Where: Area 27, California State Capitol, Sacramento, CA
Register at: eqca.org/advocacyday
We will be lobbying on a variety of issues important to the LGBT community including healthcare, education, HIV/AIDS, and transgender rights. We will also be focusing on additional intersectional issues such as criminal justice and immigration reform. Registration for high school and university students is free and travel grants are available here: action.eqca.org/travelgrant
LGBT Advocacy Day participants will receive training on legislative priorities and how to advocate for these priorities. Every participant will then engage in face-to-face meetings with California legislators and their staff, urging them to pass critical legislation that will protect and expand the civil liberties of all Californians.
Attached below is a one-pager for the event. We invite your organization, its board members, staff and constituents to join us in Sacrament on May 16 to meet with policymakers and help pass critical civil rights and social justice legislation.
Please feel free to forward this invite to other interested parties! If you have any additional questions contact Brad Lundahl at email@example.com or 213-355-3074.
