Hosted by SYRCL - The South Yuba River Citizens League
401 Broad Street, Nevada City, California 95959
The Centennial Dam Watchdog Activist Summit at Nevada Theatre will take place on Monday, March 13, from 6:00pm-8:00 pm and all are invited.
This is a chance for the community to take action locally, and we encourage all who are interested in learning more about the impacts of Nevada Irrigation District’s Centennial Dam proposal to attend. This summit is designed to encourage concerned citizens to get involved in the federal environmental review process which is happening NOW, and learn what will be on the horizon for this campaign in the coming year.
Confirmed speakers are Caleb Dardick, SYRCL’s Executive Director, Rachel Hutchinson, SYRCL’s River Science Director, Shelly Covert, Nevada City Rancheria Tribal Council Secretary, and Otis Wollan, President of the American River Watershed Institute. The summit panel will discuss the ecological impacts of the dam and how sacred Native American cultural sites would be lost, as well as focus on a range of environmentally sustainable alternatives to dams. The audience will also have a chance to ask questions of panelists.
This event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Denis Kutch, of the Nevada Theatre Commission, and Terry and Karen Brown.
